How do i write a CONVINCING request letter regarding the changing of a dsl connection into a wi-fi one.?

the situation: we have an existing dsl connection in our office for a single laptop and there were times that there were VIP%26#039;s that need an internet access with their own laptop in our office. the letter is to be addressed to my superior.

Please make the letter as convincing as possible. Thanks a lot and God bless!|||Dear Boss;

We find that occasionally we need to be able to offer Internet connectivity to our valued VIP guests. To do this we have two alternatives:

1) Buy a wireless router for about $150, install it ourselves, and maintain it (maintaining it will occasionally require having our IT staff perform manual power cycling and/or reseting and reconfiguring WEP security and other minor details). The great advantage to this option is minimal long term cost.

2) Requesting that our DSL provider upgrade our existing single connection service to a multi connection service.... in this case the DSL company would charge us an additional $20 per month for the DSL service and also they would recall our modem and replace it with a modem/router combo device. The great advantage to this option is convenience for the whole company: on a given day that the Internet should fail any personnel in the office can call the DSL tech support and they will talk them through the process of re-connecting to the Internet any computer or visitor%26#039;s computer we so desire.

Thank you - please let me know which option you prefer.|||Fist of all WIFI is NOT an internet connection. IT is the wireless portion of a Local Area Network. A Lan/WIFI still needs a DSL connection to the Internet.

All you need to do is purchase a Wireless Router such as the Dlink DI-624 and connect the cable comming from the DSL modem to the DI624 WAN port. The DI624 has Four Ethernet ports. Connect one of them to your existing computer and set up the Wireless router for WPA-PSK encryption.

The DI-624 is about $90.00 U.S. at Frys electronics.

There are no changes to your current DSL account or changes to your computer settings. Just install it the way I said and away you go. All you will need to do is let the VIP%26#039;s know the key.

If you have further questions email me.

Bill|||Wi-Fi is one of the possible connections from your PC to the router.

DSL is one of the possible connections between your router and the Internet.

So, Wi-Fi won%26#039;t replace DSL. It just replaces the ethernet cables that run from your PC to the router.

You can get a Wi-Fi router for about $50.

If you have VIPs coming in, this is a very cheap solution to allow them to get only.

The only problem is that there are some security issues with Wi-Fi.|||Just so you know 鈥?and this may affect the nature of your request 鈥?wireless connectivity is something you simply add to your existing internet connection using a wireless router (or whatever). It doesn%26#039;t require you to switch to a different ISP or anything, just a cheap hardware purchase and a little while to set it up and make sure everything%26#039;s properly configured for a work environment. Hopefully, that%26#039;ll make it easier for you to make your case. :)
