In accordance with Darwinism it seems that it is in response to external stimuli that we evolve/adapt. When as %26quot;Hunter/gathers%26quot; all we needed was a Limbic region for %26quot;fight or flight%26quot; and mating and as time progressed and situations changed (Agrarian living) we developed the Neo Cortex to allow us to exist in more complex relationships, yet retaining the limbic region as the basis of our survial instincts and the %26quot;promotion of self and kind%26quot;. In modern day we are all totally capable of conceaving of and beleiving in a %26quot;Utopian%26quot; exsistance, yet in the same in times of percieved crisis our survival mode, limbic region overrides our Neo-Cortex and ruins the fantasy. Is it not then the case that not through politics, religion or legislation we may ever acheive %26quot;Utopianism%26quot;, but only through time and the evolution of our own thought processes and brain's physiology that we may finally reach Utopia? Will we have to face extinction as a species in order to learn to live together?
Man's brain physiology, Darwinism and Evolution, are we there yet?
Utopia as believed by many does not simply exist similar as Star Wars would never occur! It is all a figment of imagination of few handfuls. Truly Utopia in the physical manifested world is reaching the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha). Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed in their lifetime reached the stage of Utopia... gaining enlightenment and finally salvation in the end of their earthly sojourn.
What more could puny human beings ask for other than gaining enlightenment and salvation. The religious masters of the present era have painted a very glamorous picture of Heaven... something of the outer world that never exists in the physical manifest world. None can go to heaven as claimed by the religious masters of today. Why?
It is for the simple reason that temperatures in heaven exceed millions of degrees centigrade. Heaven is situated in the core of sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade. It is in such high temperatures our soul atman feels comfortable! On the contrary Hell is situated in the periphery of the sun where temperatures are considerably less. It is in such low temperatures the soul atman suffers for eternity.
Whenever matching parents are not available on Mother Earth... the liberated soul atman hibernates either in heaven or hell. In heaven if the residual balance of karma is positive and hell if negative! Sooner matching parents become available on Mother Earth... the hibernating soul atman immediately manifests a body. Our soul getting a berth in heaven or hell is totally dependent upon the residual balance of karma at a given point of time.
The claim by many clergy and religious masters of the era that they can confirm a seat for one in heaven is a misnomer. It is simply not possible. None can go to heaven or hell in bodily form. Heaven and hell are sojourn for only our soul atman within. The goal of life for the soul atman within always remaining permanent liberation from the cycle of birth and death and reaching the stage of enlightenment and finally salvation in the human form!
The moment our soul atman gets liberated finally... it enters the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism). The kingdom of God is a point of no return. The purified soul atman having gained a seat in the abode of God remains there for eternity until the dissolution of the entire Cosmos occurs. Gaining a seat by our soul atman in the kingdom of God is Utopia for all purposes.
Utopia like conditions may never exist on Mother Earth. It exists only in dreams. In the evolving Cosmos... no two living beings are born same! To think of paradise on Mother Earth wherein people from all walks of life think the same would not be possible ever. In the present times... the Kali Yuga phase of life (the metal age) we are passing through... Utopia is totally ruled out. More on heaven - http://www.godrealized.org/understanding鈥?/a>
Man's brain physiology, Darwinism and Evolution, are we there yet?
We are still far from this theory of evolution.
We may acheive Utopianism but no one can predict when possible. We may not have to face extinction as asked by you. Overall, relax and take the things easy. Do not worry.
no- and although i HATE hillary clinton with a burning PASSION and will move to canada if she gets the white house, i think if women ruled the world we would be in much better shape. and here's why:
yes men developed fight or flight, and it is that same instinct that you are refering to which ruins your utopian fantasy,
but some researchers believe that while yall were out hunting and gathering, the women were all home making the babies, and when they were having and raising those babies they relied on each other for help and support, and in this time developed a third option- friends. women can rely on and work with each other exceptionally well- when men are out of the picture. if a utopian society ever develops, which i believe it will, i think it has to be lead by a naturally nurturing, understanding woman. its nothing sexist, its just my opinion
Interesting logic, but if we would have wiped out people that were different, we would have utopia; no evolution required.
Our sense of compassion for things being different kept us from achieving it.
interesting yet common view of our evolutionary process. most creatures do evolve towards their own end. i believe we are no different and will follow the same course, by an either natural or unnatural demise.
The brain is a plastic organ. %26quot;You use it or loose it%26quot; is the motto in neurology, something that is very observable in the rehabilitation of stroke victims - those that are actively stimulating themselves towards an action they cannot yet perform, fare better. That is because the more a brain is stimulated towards a certain task, the more it will devellop those pathways and areas to perfect that function, as neurons and synapses are %26quot;re-wired%26quot;.
And becase learning (or %26quot;brain molding%26quot;) is a constant process: I can CHOOSE which way to mold my brain. It is up to me.
Now this is where evolution no longer applies to the human brain! A father might pass on his intelligence genes to his son, but without active stimulation from the first days of life untill adulthood, without MOTIVATION, that boy will become as dumb as an ox. This is why we %26quot;Homo sapiens%26quot; (sapiens = thinking) are not mere animals driven by our environment towards perfection. To certain degrees, we can choose to mold our brains as we wish, towards the direction we prefer.
Then to answer your question, if we want Eutopia, we should not expect evolution to strengthen our brains, but each person has to choose to stimulate his own neo-cortex towards that goal.
And so we come to something not seen in the animal world called, RESPONSABILITY. It is present at every moment in every individual because depending on each daily thoughts we choose to concentrate on, our individual brains mold towards different directions. And this is where ideologies and religions that controll thought, collective hopes and dreams become crucial.
Perhaps like you say, without a %26quot;direction%26quot; towards which the neocortex molds itself, the hipocampus gets the upper hand!
all the best.
